As a campus of Memorial University of Newfoundland, the Fisheries and Marine Institute is Canada’s most comprehensive centre for education, training, applied research and industrial support for the ocean industries. Located on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, the Marine Institute is one of the most respected centres of marine learning and applied research in the world.
The Qalipu Development Corporation (QDC) is the business investment arm of the Qalipu First Nation (QFN). It is an independent, arms-length entity responsible for managing the QFN investment interests, businesses, and properties. Qalipu is part of the Mi’kmaq Nation whose territory extends from Maine to Quebec, through the Maritime Provinces and into Ktaqmkuk (Newfoundland). This territory is also known as Mi’kma’ki. Qalipu is made up of 67 traditional Mi’kmaq communities, spread out over 9 Electoral Wards.
Miawpukek Mi’kamawey Mawi’omi is a First Nation Reserve located at the mouth of the Conne River on the south coast of the island of Newfoundland. Over the years the community has seen a steady growth in Government, Social reforms, Health, Education, Economic Development, Culture and Traditions. We believe that we will “secure our future by investing in our past.”
econext is a not-for-profit association with a mission to accelerate clean growth in Newfoundland and Labrador (NL). econext has been working for over 30 years on behalf of its members across many sectors to support environmentally sustainable economic development. econext is a driver for clean growth innovation in NL, a coordinator of green workforce development, and a catalyst for net zero by 2050 planning within NL’s communities and industries.
